LOST INSIDE A CLOUDY KISS

A Cocoon of Warmth, Softness and Dreamlike Embrace

“Lost Inside a Cloudy Kiss” explores the intimate feeling of being gently surrounded by warmth and softness. Like disappearing into a cloud, the body is enveloped by layers that feel protective, comforting and dreamlike . This is designed for the autumn/winter season.
Soft volumes, gathered surfaces and sculptural forms blur the boundary between comfort and structure, transforming garments into wearable shelters and moments of tender escape.

The inspirations are drawn from nature. At Kajukale, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, the forest floor becomes a natural composition. Decayed leaves settle gently over one another, while fallen branches weave across the earth, creating layers upon layers of organic matter. Looking at the cross-section of this landscape reveals a hidden vocabulary of texture, colour, shape, line, form, space and value.
Soft leaves rest beneath rough branches. Light surfaces disappear into darker shadows. Broken forms overlap with one another, creating depth and an imperfect rhythm. The beauty lies not in perfection but in accumulation, aging and transformation.
Hidden among the fallen leaves and branches are tiny forms of life moss and lichens quietly occupying the spaces between earth and decay. They soften the harshness of the forest floor. Their delicate growth spreads across bark, stones and damp surfaces, creating a subtle layer of softness, moisture and quiet life.
Unlike the strong structure of branches, moss and lichens introduce a more delicate language fine, organic, tactile and almost cloud-like. They represent the gentle moment when nature begins to reclaim what has fallen.
Close to the ground, Geophila repens quietly spreads through shaded and moist environments. Among the green foliage, its glossy orange-red berries appear like tiny drops of warmth unexpected sparks of colour within the cool, shadowed landscape.
Its delicate movement creates a contrast with the heavier layers of fallen leaves and branches. It speaks of quiet growth, softness, repetition and hidden beauty.

The earthy tones and organic textures found in these natural inspirations are softly transformed into a cozy, dreamlike colour palette of delicate pinks, warm whites and subtle neutral shades. Rather than directly reproducing the colours of the forest floor, the palette interprets nature through a lighter, softer and more ethereal lens, reflecting the feeling of being wrapped inside a cloudy embrace.

The garments are developed by translating the concept and its inspirations into expressive knitting and crochet techniques, creating layers of softness, intricate textures and sculptural volume.

The combination of soft colours, lightweight textures, layered forms, and handmade techniques transforms the rawness of nature into a gentle, wearable shelter bringing the concept of “Lost Inside a Cloudy Kiss” to life.
This garment is designed with versatility and adaptability in mind, allowing the wearer to respond to changing temperatures and comfort needs. The main garment can be worn without sleeves for a lighter and more breathable option or styled with two different detachable sleeve variations, each featuring a unique texture and structure.
The two sleeve designs explore the relationship between texture, thickness and yarn type and their effect on warmth and comfort. A more open and lightweight texture provides greater breathability for low cooler conditions, while a thicker and denser structure offers additional warmth in high cooler temperatures.

By changing the detachable sleeves, the wearer can adapt the garment to different temperature conditions without changing the entire outfit. This creates one garment with multiple possibilities, combining functionality, comfort, textile experimentation, and contemporary styling.
